Tune Your Piano
By Brett V. Franson, D.C.
This Café of Life appetizer was inspired by a conversation I had with a participant at my
Café of Life. I was checking her nerve system and mentioned the word ‘Tone’. She asked me what I meant by that. I explained to her that our bodies have a certain tone in the tissues. Excessive tone is hypertonic and not enough tone means loose, or hypotonic. Our voices have a certain tone –tone of voice. Even our feelings have tone. How about ‘skin tone’? It refers to the tone, or look, feel and even color of our skin.
Tone is also another word for sound. Sounds are just pressure waves of air. And waves are ups and downs, expansions and contractions per say. Therefore anything in our bodies that expand and contract, in other words,
everything in our bodies gives off waves. For example, when you breathe or when your heart beats, there is expansion and
contraction. When you eat, your stomach expands and then contracts (that’s when it grumbles). Your bladder, your blood vessels, the list goes on and on.
What does all of this mean? It means every tissue in your body has a particular tone. Heart sounds, bowel sounds, speech, pulses, blood pressure, muscles, skin, etc.
all have a particular tone.
So I explained to her that our bodies are musical instruments in a way, just
like a piano. As long as the piano is perfectly tuned, it plays the right tones and is capable
of making beautiful and inspiring music. But what does a piano play without a player? Nothing! In order to play that beautiful and inspiring music, you must have a perfectly
tuned piano, and someone who knows how to play it, and what they want to play. All are necessary –the player, the song and the piano.
If your body is the piano, who is the player? You are!! You have within you an Innate Intelligence that gives you Life. That is the player. Your Mental Focus (the thoughts you focus on the most) is the song you wish to
play. Your body must be perfectly tuned, or have the right tone in order for the
player to make beautiful music. What part of your body is responsible for the tone of everything else in your
body? Your Nerve System! Your Nerve System is like the strings of the piano. If they are not tuned right –at the right tone- the music being played is altered, or limited. This means when your Nerve System is out of tune, or not at the right tone –too tight or too loose- your Life and health are altered or limited.
When you are out of adjustment, your expression, your music, is out of tune. You may experience this as unhappiness or uneasiness. When your Nerve System is out of adjustment, you are out of tune with yourself,
others and all of Life. This causes stress and leads in the direction of dis-ease.
Chiropractic is a way to tune your piano. It is a science, philosophy and artistry of gently adjusting your Nerve System
to bring your nerves to just the right tone. In this way, the player, your Innate Intelligence, can flow through you and play
the beautiful and inspiring music that your expression and experience in Life
is meant to be!
Getting adjusted restores the proper tone to your Nerve System. Proper nerve tone restores ease and moves you in the direction of wellness and
wholeness. Then your Life Force/Innate Intelligence can flow freely. Then your body and brain can communicate properly.
The music that is the expression and experience of your Life,
becomes more beautiful and more inspiring, again.
